Menopause Essentials Update
The Menopause Essentials Update provides current information on topics relevant to all health professionals involved in the care of women at midlife. It is targeted at GPs, specialists, allied health workers and other health professionals who are seeking a comprehensive update in the field of menopause.
There are four 45-minute modules in this online workshop. The modules feature prominent speakers and include case studies. Links to relevant AMS Information Sheets are provided at the end of each module.
To be eligible for CPD/PDP, participants must view all four modules in full (total of 3 hours) and complete the evaluation. Participants can view the modules in stages.
This activity has been approved by the RACGP QI&CPD Program 2017-19 Triennium, Activity No 95369– Total Points 6 Category 2.
RANZCOG Paper based CPD Program participants can claim 3 CPD points under the Meeting Attendance Category.
This activity has been approved by ACCRM 2017-19 Triennium Activity 10192 for 3 Core PDP.
Fellows of the RACP who find the content relevant to their scope of practice are eligible to claim CPD points via MyCPD.
Case Study | Joan
This is a case study of a patient seeking treatment for menopausal symptoms who has a history of fracture and venous thromboembolism (VTE). Joan is a 51 year old Caucasian woman who presents to you with menopausal symptoms of debilitating hot flushes, night sweats, and insomnia.

An Update on MHT
Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is an effective treatment that can be offered to most women with menopausal symptoms, following an appropriate assessment and using a shared decision-making process.
Recent guidelines from the International Menopause Society recommend there is no need for a mandatory limit to the duration of MHT.
